Oh dear. It looks like actress Kristen Stewart didn’t quite go in for the method acting in her latest film role. The 22 year old actress best known for her portrayal of Bella Swan in the Twilight film franchise, and for her secretive real-life romance with handsome Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, has been caught cheating with married film director and family man Rupert Sanders.
Primarily known as a director of adverts and short films, British born Sanders had recently made the leap to the big time by directing his first feature film Snow White and the Huntsman. The actress taking the lead role in this new, darker re-imagining of the Snow White story? None other than Kristen Stewart.
The awkwardness of this illicit workplace affair ratchets up even further when you realise that 41 year old Rupert’s wife and his two children were also on set during filming as they all had roles in the feature film. Mrs Sanders a.k.a. model Liberty Ross bears more than a passing resemblance to Kristen Stewart, and actually appeared on screen as the actress’s mother.
In what seems like a very careless and out of character move for the notoriously publicity shy actress, not to mention her married paramour, the cheating couple were spotted and photographed by the ever vigilant paparazzi when they took a romantic drive around the Hollywood hills together earlier this month. After the news broke yesterday, both parties were quick to issue apologies for their actions.
In what was actually Stewart’s first ever public acknowledgement of her relationship with Pattinson, she offered an apparently heartfelt message to the actor saying “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
Oh dear indeed. It remains to be seen what the fallout from this will be for Stewart and Sanders both personally and professionally. It has to be said that historically, the woman involved in these type of scandals tends to pay a dearer price for her actions than the man. Stewart may well rue the day she ever pulled on the Snow White costume…
