What a great fact I found out this weekend..July is National Ice Cream Month! Yep, you read that right..National Ice Cream Month!! The whole month is dedicated to ice cream and the third Sunday of the month has been declared Ice Cream Day and is mainly celebrated in the United States.
The special day was declared by Ronald Reagan in 1984 as reportedly 90% of the nation’s population consumes ice cream. And what more encouragement do we need to eat an ice cream? The first reference to ice cream was allegedly in the Oxford English Dictionary way back in 1744, with the first cookbook being produced in 1768 for flavoured ices and ice creams.
Even though mainly a celebration in the United States there is no reason why us Brits cannot join in, so put on your Ice Cream Cone Costume and enjoy some ice cream this summer. Vanilla, Mint Choc Chip, Strawberry, Raspberry Ripple, Chocolate, Rum and Raisin…the list goes on and on and on and on and………
