Online Shopping Advice

Partybox Limited is an online only retail business and as such it is very important to our future that you have an enjoyable and safe online shopping experience. We subscribe to an approved code of practice and we are continuously monitored to ensure that we maintain the highest standards.

You can make your shopping experience safer by taking note of the following advice and by choosing online retailers that comply with the government guidelines.

Before you place an Order

It is important to check out the seller before you place an order. Look for the company’s address and telephone number. If it is a UK Limited company it should have a Companies House registration number and a registered address. That information for Partybox Limited can be found on the Contact Page Be wary of sellers who have just PO box numbers and mobile phone numbers as their contact details, they could prove difficult to reach in the event of a problem.

  • Check the pricing and delivery details before you checkout and enter your payment information. There are many differing ways to display a price and plenty of ways that extra cost can “appear” on your final bill. A reputable retailer will make it easy to see what you are buying and the total amount should be clearly stated at checkout.

  • All delivery charges should be clearly laid out so that you can make an informed choice as to your preferred delivery method.

  • Any discount schemes should also be clearly laid out along with the levels at which discount is earned.

  • Credit cards give you added protection. The law in the EU protects you against fraudulent use of your card in transactions within the EU.

  • Take care that you are entering your payment details in a secure environment. Never give out your PIN to anyone, no legitimate retailer will ever ask you to disclose it over the internet. Email is not secure and should not be used to transmit payment details.

  • If you are unsure about checking out on line we will take your order by phone and process your payment for you. Call our helpful staff on 0845 166 2683.

After you Buy

Once you have placed an order online you should receive an order confirmation. This must contain certain information about the seller and the order transaction.

It must contain the sellers name and address, the total price of the goods including taxes and delivery costs. It should also confirm that you have the right to cancel the order within 7 days of receipt. Print off and keep all records of the transaction, this will be most valuable in the event of a problem later.

In the event of a problem with your purchase then it helps to know your rights before you contact the seller. The Consumer Direct website is an excellent source of information and contains template letters that you can use if you need to complain. You should always contact the seller in the first instance and give them a chance to rectify the problem. Most good online retailers have “no quibble” returns policies and will deal with problem transactions quickly and fairly.

If you are unfortunate and the seller does not resolve the matter to your satisfaction then there are other agencies that can offer help and advice. See the consumer direct website above for details of these.

Other points you should consider

If you buy goods from a website based outside the EU you may be classed as an Importer of those goods and as such you could be liable for Customs Duties and Vat. In the event of a problem arising it may be more difficult to resolve and you will probably have less protection than if you purchased from a seller within the EU. This means that you should be especially careful in choosing a retailer when shopping outside the EU.

Finally, you should always be vigilant and check your payment card statements carefully. Check as soon as your statement comes in and that way if there are any problems you will minimise the time and trouble it takes to have them resolved.
